Sorry for the extra delay, folks. There's a long and pretty good reason for it, but I'll spare you the details. ;)

Anyway! The first round of claiming starts right now, and will continue until March 8th. That being said, if I see that claims have completely dried up before then, I may open up the second round a day or so earlier.

How claiming works:

To claim a prompt, simply comment to this post with the number of the prompt you would like. Claims are made on a first-come, first-served basis. When a prompt is claimed, I will cross it off on the list. I am one woman, however, and since only one person can edit a post, please bear in mind that I have to live and work and sleep. So if you see a prompt you would like, please check the comments to ensure someone else hasn't already claimed it and I haven't crossed it off the list yet (I find that using the search function in your browser works well for this).

During the first round of claiming, you may pick one prompt, and one only, with one exception to this rule. If you are one of those magical unicorns who is capable of both writing and making art, then you may pick two prompts, one for each medium. That is, you may claim one art prompt and one fic prompt. You may not claim two fic prompts or two art prompts. One of each. Capisce? Good.

The second round of claiming will commence March 9th. It has no end date beyond the challenge deadline of May 15th, but please be realistic when making claims later in the challenge. Will you really be able to complete your work in time? Give it some serious thought before claiming.

Fanworks can be submitted to the comm at any time between the moment your claim is confirmed by yours truly, and the challenge deadline. Betas are not a requirement but are highly encouraged!

FIC PREFERRED

1- Sam has a supernaturally induced nose bleed (maybe due to some sort of spirit or haunting) and it won't stop bleeding. Cue a frantic Dean trying to find a cure before Sam bleeds out.

2- S9-10: Slash fic Sam/Castiel. Sam is not doing well at all after metatron killed Dean. He is on a dangerous path, and Castiel has to help him cope, as he is the only family he has left.

3- Dean and John were not the only ones hurt in the car crash in Devil's Trap. Sam signed out AMA to sit with Dean in the hospital. It's not until they are at Bobby's that Sam's injuries make themselves known .... Claimed by phenar_21

4- There is no way to get rid of the Mark, but Sam figures out a spell/ritual that allows him to share the burden, which makes it bearable for Dean. (Maybe it's because he's psychic that he's able to do this?) Unfortunately, it also causes Sam to feel everyone else's anger/fear/guilt/rage/grief (any negative emotions) amplified, so he has a really hard time being around anyone else, even casually. He becomes a virtual recluse, only able to tolerate Dean's company because of the bond they share. Maybe they stay in the bunker and Sam almost never goes out? Maybe they move someplace remote, like a little farm far away from everyone else.

When Sam's isolation and withdrawal become serious, Dean starts bringing home strays to keep Sam company. First a dog, but when he sees how much it helps, maybe more dogs, or a horse, a hedgehog, a pair of kittens—whatever strikes your fancy.

5- Sam is acting weird. Forgetting things, occasional bouts of aphasia or spouting gibberish, dizziness, and it's very quickly getting worse. All unexplained occurrences. Until Dean insists he see a doctor and Sam is diagnosed as having rapid early onset dementia, already very advanced and likely caused by the numerous head injuries he's had over the years. Or is it? Dean won't accept that Sam, the brother he's protected all his life, might soon be lost to him. Dean looks for a miracle cure and even thinks a witch's spell might be behind it. All the while, Sam is aware he's losing chunks of himself and he's scared, tortured by the knowledge that he will lose his memories, his intelligence, and become an empty shell, a burden to Dean for the rest of his life. He considers/tries suicide maybe.

Whether Dean is successful in finding a cure or not is up to the writer, but just no miracle angel cures. This is kind of a dual hurt/comfort story.

6- In S9 Road Trip Cas burns off Sam's anti possession tat. After Dean drives off, Cas wants to get back to the bunker to heal Sam.

Abaddon finds out somehow that Sam's body is up for grabs. So somewhere between watching Dean drive off and getting back to the bunker, Abaddon jumps him.

Cas can't just drive the demon out because it could kill Sam the condition he's in. He has to contain Sam and call Dean.

How long it takes Dean to get there, (or even if Abaddon/Sam get to him first) how they get Abaddon out of Sam, who helps- even Crowley if it suits the author- is up to author.

7- Sam is transgender and is nervous to tell Dean. She wants her brother to love her as much as she loves him, but is too scared to say anything, and chooses to hide it from her brother and her dad. I want Sam to go through all the feelings of sadness, fear, etc., and an understanding Dean.

8- So for whatever reason Sam starts to have nightmares so he avoids sleeping all together. Dean doesn't notice at first, till he starts showing signs of sleep deprivation. His hands shake a lot, he slurs at times etc.

9- Sam and Dean have a fight. Like a big fight over a small thing. And Sam storms out of the room to calm himself down. Once outside he gets into an accident (could be anything). When he doesnt return, Dean first gets angrier then worried.

12- Sam has an embarrassing injury. He doesn't tell Dean about it. Until Dean somehow figures something's wrong.

13- At the end of “Lucifer Rising”, instead of being zapped away onto that plane, Sam and Dean are able to open the door and get out of the convent. The problem is, from the strain of killing Lilith with his powers, Sam is having a heart attack (“Your heart rate was 200!” – Chuck). Dean can’t take him to the hospital because he’s also going into demon blood detox, and how would they explain Sam being psychically thrown around the room? So instead he swipes some nitroglycerin from a pharmacy and holes up with Sam in Bobby’s panic room to ride out the detox, comforting him and dosing him with nitro when the strain becomes too much for his heart. Dean might be angry with Sam, but he also loves him more than anyone else in the world, and he’s still terrified of losing his brother.

14- During “Sam, Interrupted”, when they’re running from the hospital and Sam stops suddenly, Dean asks if Sam is okay. Sam says no, but instead of the speech about being angry all the time, it’s because the wraith actually stabbed him and tried to kill him before Dean stopped her, and now Sam’s really hurt.

15- In “Bloody Mary”, Sam’s eyes bled while Mary was attacking him through the mirror, but it was his chest he was clutching. After they finish the job, Sam has lingering heart damage / problems.

16- In “Changing Channels”, the Nutcracker actually injured Sam pretty significantly, but Sam doesn’t say anything because he’s embarrassed about it, until it gets so bad he can’t hide it anymore (severe pain, difficulty walking / sitting, maybe passing out or complications from not having the injury treated, etc). Dean is concerned and also a little hurt and angry that Sam didn’t tell him about the injury.

17- In “The Girl Next Door”, Dean punches Sam in the face / head pretty hard, especially considering Sam recently suffered a serious head injury (with talk of increased intracranial pressure in the ambulance), not to mention that Amy knocked him unconscious with a blow to the head earlier in the episode. So when Dean punches him, it’s the last straw and Sam is slurring his words, disoriented, in severe pain, and has a blown pupil. Dean is frantic and feels really guilty.

18- With the history between Bobby and Sam- Dean being his favorite, RoboSam trying to kill him, 'forget my number' (possessed, I know, but it killed Sam)... I want Bobby to be at the bunker- Sam during trials, during Demon Dean, anytime, really. What I'm after is Bobby being proud of the man Sam has become. That's really all I want. With all the pain and suffering Sam has been through, I want Bobby to see where he is now and convince him that he's a good man and on the 'right' path. Lots of emo Sam bonding with Bobby. 20- Because coughing, struggling-to-breathe Sam is one of my favorite Sams... Sam gets asbestosis. (Basically a lung disease involving scarring from inhaling asbestos, something usually found in the walls of old, dusty houses. Good thing the boys never go in those!)

23- S9: Sam is having nightmares about Gadreel killing Kevin. For some reason the Winchesters are somewhere there is a big frozen lake, they get separated and Sam thinks he sees Kevin out on the ice. Cue falling through thin ice, hypothermic hallucinating Sam. Comfort comes from the ghost of Kevin before the physical rescue from Dean. Variations on that theme also welcome!

26- Sam is temporarily blind after a hunt gone wrong when a monster with claws slashes his face. Sam does his best to cope in the bunker. But when he finally breaks down, Dean is there for him. He always was.

27- S10:

Now that Dean's a demon, Sam (finally) gets his anti-possession tattoo done. But naturally it isn't that straight forward. Cue a nasty infection, and lots of pain, and if you link this to Sam's mysterious shoulder injury in early season 10 you get bonus points!

28- Sam gets transported back in time and lands on top of St. George, knocking him out just as the Dragon arrives. It's up to Sam to slay the Dragon. Claimed by jennytork

29- John only meant to be gone about 20 minutes but he got delayed and Dean and baby Sammy, no older than 2, are left alone overnight and Sam is suffering his first major illness and Dean has to take care of him alone.

30- Sam/Castiel.  Sam gets in trouble while looking for Dean and Castiel has to swoop in and save his life. Cas takes Sam back to the bunker and Sam is very tired and lonely and in pain and he can no longer fight against the attraction he has always had for the angel. His feelings are not as unrequited add he always feared.

31- Sam gets taken by the monster of the week. Normally it eats children but the demon blood makes Sam taste delicious. The monster keeps Sam in a cage meant for children. It drains some of his blood and cuts off small pieces of flesh only because Sam is a delicacy and it wants him to last.  

32- Sam and Dean get taken by hunters who are too squeamish to pull the trigger themselves. The hunters take the boys up in a bush plane and parashute them down into the middle of a desert with no food, water, or shoes. They have to survive and make it back to civilisation themselves because no one is looking for them.

33- Sam has a motorcycle accident in an arid and lonely landscape (featuring road burn, cuts, bruises - whatever strikes your fancy!)

34- Desperate to help Dean, Sam stumbles across a spell that will help Dean control, but not cure or remove, the effects of the Mark of Cain. The catch is, the spell draws energy from Sam to work. Normally it's manageable, but eventually Dean starts to notice his bad spells go away quickly, but Sam always seems to fall ill shortly afterwards.   

35- John takes Sam out on a solo hunt without Dean knowing. Sam is seriously injured (hospital? Dealer's choice) and Dean takes care of him. Please address the fallout between John and Dean and how Sam reacts to that, too. I'm seeing Sam at about 16 here...

36- Gen, pre-series-ish. Sam lands in the hospital with pneumonia. Good thing Jessica is there to take care of him. The only problem is that Sam hasn't put her on his emergency card and the doctor won't let her in. It doesn't help that Sam is too delirious with fever to give his permission. Desperate, Jessica calls the only contact on Sam's phone that she doesn't know--"D". Cue a frantic Dean (and John if you wish) meeting Jessica/testing to make sure she isn't a supernatural creature as well as taking care of Sam.

37- Gen, any season with Charlie. Charlie heads to the bunker intending to have a great day with the boys only to find the place in shambles, Dean injured and Sam missing. It's up to her to be the hero that she's so often read about and rescue Sam from whatever creature has him. Hurt Sam however you like (but no permanent injury please!) Claimed by leah_elisabeth

38- Season 5, Gen. Sam takes Anna up on her offer to stop the Apocalypse. Dean and Castiel race against time to stop him before it's too late.

39- Season 10. Gen.

In About a Boy Sam is de-aged as well, Dean finds himself in a even more insane situation as his younger self tries to keep Sam safe when he's so little.

Sam's shoulder is hurt a lot worse than Dean realizes when he first comes back. When he was returned back to human again, Dean spent the next few days sleeping, eating and simply enjoying being human, however Sam silently suffers as the stress and the beating and torture he received from Cole begin to take a toll. Dean slowly realizes it and does his best to give Sam support.
