Note: I debated with myself about posting this here, since it scores a pretty big goose egg on the 'comfort' scale. However, since Sam pretty much gets the stuffing kicked out of him for the duration of the fic, I thought that it might appeal to a few folks hereabouts. It's dark--though not, I think, any darker than the show itself.
